With a penchant for nostalgia from songs that have acted as the soundtrack to her life, Shay Leonia has emerged as a multifaceted artist ready to build her own musical legacy.  With soulful vocals over electro-pop beats, Leonia describes her music as a Monday night watching a John Hughes movie.  Notion Magazine premiered the self-directed, produced and edited music video for her newest single, “Crumbs”, which also received recognition on Roland.com for Leonia having taught herself how to record her vocals for the first time on the single.

Shortly after graduating from The American Musical and Dramatic Academy, Shay’s new found songwriting skills presented her with opportunities to work with veterans like DJ Marley Marl, Treach of Naughty by Nature, The Pharcyde and more.  Shay began performing at venues like B.B. King’s in Times Square and even headlined at SOB’s in lower Manhattan, using her performance as an opportunity to take a public stand in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement.

Among her career highlights so far, Shay has had the honor of singing and dancing with Janelle Monae on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert'' as well as singing in the Vh1 commercial for Season 12 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race”. With each sentiment of congratulations shared for her achievements, Shay feels like she’s making her mother proud as she had always been the one to encourage her to reach for the stars. Shay hopes to one day travel around the world, meeting the people who’ve felt connected to her music and to also work with some of her musical heroes like Janet Jackson and Stevie Wonder.
